Neutral is used to circulate the circuit current so that circuit will complete and earth is used to protect whole system equipment's from high lighting stroke or any kind of short ckt faults

Neutral is used to complete ckt so that current can flow via phase and neutral while earning is done to protect system from lightening and short ckt faults.

Earthing - Protects the entire system or equipment's from fault current/lightning/

Neutral - Completes the circuit along with phase inorder to maintain the healthy circuit

There is no similarity in Neutral & Earth , i.e these are the two different topics.

However , Neutral is connected to Earth at the source to ground the unbalanced current in the electrical network mainly in distribution system
