Security Rules restrict the user to access the values at the responsibility level where as Cross validation rules are used to restrict the invalid code combinations at responsibility level.

When we are implementing the General Ledger at that time we need to freeze the account codes or define the Cross Validation Rules, whereas Security Rules, will be defined to restrict the user of choosing the wrong code combinations.

Cross Validation Rules does not allow invalid code combinations.

Security Rules restrict the data by responsibilities.

Security Rule: By using the security rule we can give the access permission to the user for specific segment values and the security rule works at Responsibility Level.

Cross Validation Rule: By using the cross validation rule we can create invalid code combinations and the Cross Validation Rule works at COA level.

Control Access to ranges of
Accounting Flex-field Segment
values by defining Security Rules
and assigning them to
responsibilities

Prohibit invalid combinations of Accounting Flex-field Segment values using Cross Validation Rules

Always use one universal include rule and use at least one exclude element
