Structured test methods replace functional testing in the highest density, these devices offers a rational alternative to functional test. It uses fewer test patterns but generates patterns to detect targeted faults, and thereby achieves higher quality of test with increased efficiency of the test resources, resulting in a significantly reduced cost of test.

A structured test process enables us to perform activities in parallel with the system development activities. When a structured test process is used, the testers can show the stakeholders what has been tested, why it has been tested and how the testing is done. This enables the tester to give insight into the quality of the system under test. It is clear which activities are planned and executed .
